We will be arriving into and departing from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) in Amsterdam. If you are using Travel Agency Assist to book your air, please make sure you are using the correct airport if you are planning to use our group ground transportation. Additional details are below.

If you are pre or post extending your trip, please be advised that you will not be able to embark onto the ship until at least 9AM. Cabins will not be available until 4PM. All travelers MUST disembark the ship by 9AM on group departure day. There will not be an option to extend your travel dates on the cruise ship.

 

Flights
Transportation Policy

After April 19, 2024 and once your travel dates have been assigned, you will not be able to make changes to your transportation choice.

Reimbursements will only be made for coach/economy class tickets.  We will not reimburse for upgrades or other add-ons, such as inflight Wi-Fi, meals, premium seating, luggage, insurance or other items that are not a part of the base price of the ticket.

  • If you are flying on dates other than the group travel dates or visiting other destinations, we will reimburse for the flight from your home city to the first destination and back home from your final destination.  We will not reimburse for flights or other transportation in-between your departure and return dates or for flights that include a resort stay in another city.

  • If your flights are delayed or cancelled, you will be responsible for rebooking your flights.

  • Reimbursements will not be made for additional expenses incurred due to flight delays or cancellations.

Reimbursements will be sent to you via check from Auto-Owners Insurance AFTER you have traveled on the trip.

Auto-Owners Insurance will reimburse you for the actual cost that you paid for your flights up to the maximum amount of $1400 per traveler. 

  • If you will be using airline reward points, miles, or vouchers for the entire fare, or traveling to the destination by methods other than a commercial flight, you will receive a compensation check for $1200 per traveler.

  • Upon receipt of your flight itinerary and receipt, we will confirm your reimbursement amount.  Should you later make changes to your itinerary, your reimbursement amount will not change. 

  • Air allowances will not be reimbursed for cancelled trips.

For travel planning assistance, (assistance with upgraded seats or pre/post trip travel dates to and from the program airport), Gavel International will send you a deviation request form after April 1, 2024.  Flights must be booked by May 19, 2024 in order to receive reimbursement.

  • Please do not contact Gavel to have your flights booked until you have been assigned to your travel dates.

  • Gavel International will submit a copy of your itinerary and receipt to Auto-Owners in order for them to process your reimbursement.

  • If itemized costs are not submitted, we will determine the reimbursement amount based on available coach/economy class tickets for the same itinerary.

Gavel International Service Fees
Service Cost
Gavel Assist - Air Only Travel Planning Assistance $250 per family or $125 per person. Select this option to upgrade your seats and/or to extend your travel dates to and from the program airport.
Preliminary Quote Only A $50.00 fee will be charged to you if you should request a preliminary air fare quote or request a preliminary quote of extension itinerary. In the event that you confirm the itinerary, the $50 service fee will be applied toward the Air Only Travel Planning fee of $250.

Note: The service fee will be charged immediately to a credit card upon the electronic submission of the form. Once charged, the service fee is non-refundable.

Acceptable forms of payment are American Express, Visa, or MasterCard.

Ground Transportation from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to the Avalon Waterways Cruise Ship

If you do not meet the above criteria to join the group transportation or if you arrive or depart on non-group arrival and departure days, you will be responsible for your own transportation arrangements to and from the airport and the embarkment location. The transfer time from the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) to the embarkment location is approximately 40 minutes depending on traffic.
