Travel ID Requirements - AO Trips
It is possible that sometime in 2025 American citizens, as well as travelers from 58 other countries, may be required to have an European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) visa waiver to travel to any of the Schengen-zone countries including Spain for short stays.
This system has been delayed and no new date of implementation is available as of now. Once we know the start date of this process, we will alert you and update this information on this A-O Trips Website.
If you plan on extending your trip into the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland) or if your flight has a connection via any city within the United Kingdom, including London’s Heathrow Airport, you will be required to purchase an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization).
Jan. 8, 2025, is the start date for new rules requiring travelers with non-European passports to complete an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival at UK airports, including those in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The form can be completed online or via an iPhone or Android mobile app. The application fee is 10£ British Pounds, or about $12.50 USD at the current exchange rate. (cost is subject to change).
Processing of ETA applications is expected to take up to 72 hours to complete. Once approved, the authorization is good for two years for entry into the UK and stays for up to six months. The ETA does not guarantee admission to the UK; travelers must still clear border control upon arrival.
