Description: Participants of this tour will be transferred to the Roman Castle area, famous for its wine production, the pleasantness of the climate and the beautiful panorama. Guests will first arrive at the Ville Pontificie (previously the Pope’s summer residence) located in the small village of Castel Gandolfo. Ville Pontificie overlooks Lake Albano and includes beautiful Italian gardens and the Apostolic Palace, which is now an interesting Museum.
The visit at Ville Pontificie will include a tour of the Pope’s private gardens via an electric bus followed by a guided tour of the Apostolic Palace.
At the conclusion of the tour*, guests will have 30 minutes of free time in the Village of Castel Gandolfo before they depart to a lovely private family-operated wine farm located in the heart of the Roman Castle area. This is the oldest winery of the Roman Castle area on the gentle slopes that dominate Rome. The family has produced wine and olive oil from generation to generation, for more than three hundred years. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by the owner and a glass of white wine, followed by a homemade pasta making lesson ! The owners will explain the house wine production, then lunch will follow (appetizer buffet and 3 course lunch with house wine). After lunch the group will be transferred back to the hotel.
